Liverpool’s injury woes just got worse as their star man Phillipe Coutinho is doubtful for the away trip to Southampton. The Liverpool Echo has reported that the in-form midfielder was pictured in a hospital where he underwent a scan.

The Brazil international along with compatriot Roberto Firmino returned to Merseyside from international duty on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said:“I haven’t seen all of my players until now.The Brazilian guys came back last night.
“We tried everything to make it as comfortable as possible to bring them back, but I haven’t seen them or spoken to them because I hope they slept immediately and all that stuff. We will see.”
The duo reported to Melwood on Thursday but neither took part in training with the squad and Coutinho then reported to the hospital for the injury assessment.
The Reds are already sweating on Adam Lallana’s fitness after he received a knock during an international friendly against Spain and Coutinho’s injury will be a huge blow for them. Reports are suggesting that Lallana is set to miss the clash and if Coutinho fails to make the trip to St. Mary’s, it will be a very tough task for Klopp’s men to get a good result against a Southampton side which has conceded just 12 goals in 11 games.
With only two points separating the first and fourth-ranked team in the Premier League, any slip-up can prove costly for a team. The Reds are currently leading the standings with 26 points but second-ranked Chelsea are right behind them with 25 points and will look to take advantage of any slip-up from Klopp’s men.
