Moussa Sissoko is “flattered” by rumours linking him with a move to either Real Madrid or Manchester United this summer. However, a particular portion of his latest comments may look not good for United, even for arsenal and Liverpool.
Las week French magazine France Football claimed that Arsenal have entered the race to challenge Premier League rivals Liverpool and Tottenham to secure the service of Sissoko.
But it’s not the premier League big boys, Sissoko may choose Real Madrid as his next destination.
The Newcastle midfielder has made no secret of his desire to depart St James’ Park after the club’s relegation to the Championship.
The Magpies have set the France international’s valuation at £35million, but Rafael Benitez has reiterated his desire to keep the player in his squad.
Real have been linked throughout the summer – although Crystal Palace emerged as more likely suitors earlier this month, despite Manchester United’s firm interest.
Speaking to French newspaper L’Equipe, Sissoko described rumours linking him with Real and Manchester United – nope, nor us – as “flattering”.
“That’s flattering,” he said. “Who would not be flattered by the interest of one of the best clubs in the world, if not the best?
“It’s simple when you are young and you start playing football, your dream is to become a professional and play for a club like Real Madrid or Manchester United.
“Today I worked my way up.
“Everything goes well and if a club like Real comes to me it will be something huge.”
There is a possibility that the £35m price tag on Sissoko may slow things down but it now seems Madrid may offer the Championship club two young players likely Mariano Diaz and Marcos Llorente, on season-long loans to make the deal sweeter.
Real are quite aware Sissoko, who is back training with Newcastle, is also being tracked by Arsenal and Liverpool alongside Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Everton, West Bromwich and Crystal Palace but hope the player has already decided to make a switch to Spain.
