Former Tottenham and PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly set his eyes on Chelsea job, if the current man at the helm, Graham Potter is sacked by the club. The Argentine is waiting for another high-profile job since being sacked by the Parisians at the end of the 21/22 season. Pochettino boasts a CV of managing some absolute stars of the game in Lionel Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Marco Verratti, Sergio Ramos at PSG, and the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Kyle Walker at Spurs.
He is now looking to bag the Chelsea job, if vacated by the sacking of Potter. The former Brighton man had the Blues’ fans elevated after starting with a blistering run of six wins and three draws in his first nine games in charge. However, it has turned a nightmare for Potter and his Chelsea in last nine games, losing six and winning just two of them. According to The Sun, the Chelsea board are considering parting ways with Potter after just four months and potential suitors are fancying their chances.

Mauricio Pochettino on stand-by to take over from Potter
Mauricio Pochettino has been out of job since six months, and is looking to get back to the fold. The 50-year-old has a brilliant experience of working in England, having managed Tottenham for a significant period of five years, and Southampton for one-and-a-half-years prior to taking the Spurs job. The Argentine breathes English football, having overseen a staggering 256 Premier League in charge of the two clubs, collecting 132 wins and an average 1.64 points per game.
His most successful spell, of his career in all was Tottenham despite winning his first trophies with PSG. Pochettino took the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Kyle Walker, Eric Dier, Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Harry Winks under his wings and made astute star players out of them. The former manager also boasts a record of hitting a perfect chord with the youth talent at every club he has managed.
Another edge he holds over Chelsea’s current man Graham Potter. The Blues are vehemently buying young talents from across the globe under their new owners, having so far recruited a stunning six players since the summer under the age of 20- Carney Chukwuemeka [18], Cesare Casadei [20], Omari Hutchinson [19], Gabriel Slonina [18], David Datro Fofana [20], Andrey Santos [18].

Clearly, along with the signings of several established names like Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, Chelsea are also building for the future. According to multiple reports, the club won’t send all of the young recruits on loan, keeping some with the first-team with an aim of direct development at the club. And Mauricio Pochettino could be the man to steer them to stardom, having previously done the same with a young Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.
At PSG as well, Pochettino was desperate to give the young blood a chance over the marvels in the squad, only to be reportedly held back by the limelight-loving Qatari owners. As a result, they also lost one of the bright talents Xavi Simons, who has now become a regular starter at PSV since joining them on loan. With the poor results and the project Chelsea owners want to build, Mauricio Pochettino would be a fit right away if looked upon for the job. However, as of now, Potter, who has signed a long term deal until the summer of 2027 has time to turn the tide over.
