Arsenal’s season has like one would have expected. After winning the FA Cup and the FA Community Shield, fans expected the Gunners to step up, especially in the league, and perform better than their customary Champions League qualification.

While new signings in Alexis Sanchez, Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy have settled in quickly, the Emirates side also shipped out some players on loan. We take a look at how the players, out on temporary basis have fared…

Carl Jenkinson – West Ham United

After the arrival of two right-backs in Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers; with the latter acquired to fill in other positions, Jenkinson’s first team chances were limited, and Wenger loaned the Englishman to West Ham with immediate effect. The Hammers, enjoying a brilliant season, currently are 7th in the Premier League. While most of their achievement has been credited to their attacking talent, their defense has also played an integral part in their success. Jenkinson has been an integral part of their back-line, appearing in all but 4 of Sam West Ham’s league encounters, staring 14 of them. While he might have tough competition from the aforementioned players when he returns to his parent club, performances as such will surely have Arsene Wenger thinking about the former Charlton Athletic man.

Ryo Miyayichi – FC Twente

Japanese youngster Miyayichi, who was touted for big things, is slowly seeming to lose the talent that made him rate highly by the Gunners. Having loaned to several clubs in  Feyenoord, Bolton and Wigan Athletic, the pacy winger has not been able to establish himself with Arsenal, making just one first team appearance. Now struggling for gametime and form with Dutch side FC Twente, and hasn’t manage to score or set-up a single goal for the Tukkers . The two cap Japenese International is rumored to be on his way home, having several suitors from the J-League, with his contract up in the summer.

Jon Toral – Brentford

Dubbed as the ‘new Cesc Fabregas’, Jon Toral arrived along with Hector Bellerin in similar controversial circumstances like their former captain from Barcelona. Just 19, the Spain U-19 International was shipped out to Championship side Brentford in order to gain some valuable first team experience. Although the former Barcelona youngster hasn’t managed to nail down a starting spot in Mark Warburton set-up, he has been efficient whenever called up. Toral has made 16 appearances for The Bees, starting 6 of them, scoring twice, also assisting twice.

Wellington Silva – UD Almeria

Another Arsenal youngster, whose future may well be away from the Emirates is Wellington Silva. After bursting onto the scene with his boyhood club Fluminense as a 17-year-old, the Brazilian was snapped up by Arsenla Wenger in a £3.5 million deal. He too, like Miyaichi is yet to appear for the first team, having loaned out to several clubs. Currently with La Liga side Almeria, the attacking-midfielder’s Arsenal days maybe outnumbered, having made no meaningful impact with the Spanish club.
