Middlesbrough 0-1 Chelsea: Twitter Reacts As Diego Costa Fires The Blues To The Top 1

Antonio Conte’s men have climbed to the top of the Premier League table with a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough. After Liverpool could only a draw against Southampton, the Blues needed a win to topple them and Diego Coste’s first half-half goal was enough for them to see off Aitor Karanka’s men.

Chelsea began the proceedings in an emphatic manner  but was finding it tough to break a resolute Middlesbrough defence. They were finally rewarded for their hard work when Diego Costa , four minutes before the break,  fired the visitors to lead with a sharp volley. Marcus Alonso came close to double Chelsea’s lead just after the break but was thwarted by a brilliant Victor Valdes save. The Blues continued to create chances but failed to convert them. And Alvaro Negredo nearly punished them when his volley was saved by Thibaut Courtois in the 78th minute. Chelsea held on to register their sixth consecutive win Chelsea and leapfrog Liverpool and Manchester City to go a point clear.
