Middlesbrough complete signing of Arsenal and Liverpool target 1

The newly promoted side Middlesbrough have been busy this summer as Aitor Karanka has looked all over Europe to add some mettle to his squad.

He has managed to pull off some decent signing with the likes of Merten de Roon, Viktor Fischer, and Victor Valdes among players who have already signed for the club.

And it now looks like the manager has added another quality player to his squad.

Recent reports have revealed that Middlesbrough have now completed the signing of Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic.

The 27-year old Serbian international as a target of top clubs in Europe including Arsenal and Liverpool and there were stories linking him to Barcelona as well.

Having moved to the Dortmund in 2008, Subotic has so far played 258 games for the club and has established himself as a decent defender in Europe.

However, under Tomas Tuchel last season, the 27-year old has fallen down the pecking order and has been linked with a move away from the club.

Karanka, who is busy in strengthening his whole squad has snatched onto the opportunity to sign the Serbian at a meager price of £8m, a number that has come down due to various reasons.

Initially, Arsenal and Liverpool were interested in having him in their squad as a back-up but were left with no other choice to stop pursuing him after realizing that he might have issues with a work permit.

The Serbian international has not played for his country in 3 years and the FA regulations for foreign players might see Subotic wait for a work permit before moving to England.

This news broke after a few hours after Boro revealed that Gaston Ramires has signed a permanent deal with the club having played with them last season on loan.

These signings see the Middlesbrough side grow stronger than they were in the Championship last year and if Karanka can get them playing the same brand of football with freedom, he can surely keep the team up in the top flight another year.

If he can add another quality star on the attacking front, Middlesbrough can also challenge for a place in the top-10 of the Premier League table next season.

Do you think Neven Subotic’s move to Middlesbrough is justified for the 27-year old?
