English Premier League club Manchester United has been given a major boost in the pursuit of one of the top transfer targets this summer.
After an average season, the Old Trafford outfit have now replaced their manager to get in Joe Mourinho and are eyeing some sizzling deals this summer.
Reports have suggested that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is at the top of the transfer wish list of the new manager but it seems that it will not be easy for the English club to get their hands on the player.
ESPN has reported recently that London-based club Arsenal have now prioritized that signing of Mkhitaryan leaving United with some competition for his signature.
But the bigger problem is the fact that the parent Bundesliga club of the player is not willing to let him go this summer.
The 27-year old has had a decent time in his career at Borussia Dortmund and is contracted with the club until the end of the next season.
He has also come out to the media and explained his desire to not extend his contract in Germany.
This has seen the club reveal that they have no intentions of selling him and that they are happy for him to leave on a free transfer after the end of the next season.
However, Mino Raiola , the agent of the 27-year old has now given the Old Trafford faithful some good news in a recent interview with the BBC.
He clearly explained the situation with the player and the club interested and revealed that Manchester Untied made a Euro 24 million bid which was rejected by Borussia Dortmund.
However, he revealed that a move to United is still possible and said that it would be wrong to not think about a move to such a huge club.
“It would be a sin to stop talking,” Raiola is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
“I am a positive guy. If I wasn’t confident of reaching some kind of conclusion, I wouldn’t try,” he added.
He went on to explain why a United move would be perfect for his client but revealed that the Bundesliga outfit are adamant to let his see out his contract with the club.
“I am very proud Manchester United want him and the talks are being held in a good atmosphere, but at the moment, Dortmund are still saying no,” Raiola said.
This might see the Old Trafford outfit make a few more bids before the start of the next season and it will be interesting to see if they can get Dortmund to sell their transfer target.
Mino Raiola, who is also the agent of another transfer target for United, Zlatan Ibrahimovic also gave an update on his client’s status.
United are said to be leading the race for his signature this summer but it is understood that there have been lucrative offers from China and the MLS.
However, Raiola revealed that his client who is a free agent this summer has not made up his mind as to where his next destination will be.
“Manchester United is a great club, with a great coach,” Raiola said.
“But Zlatan has not yet made his choice,” he added.
