Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who joined Arsenal from Manchester United in January in a swap deal has admitted that he was desperate to join the gunners as soon as he heard about the offer.
The Armenia international missed playing offensively and that was the main reason behind joining Arsenal. The reason has made it quite clear that Mkhitaryan didn’t like Jose Mourinho’s style of football and he wanted to get out of the jail as soon as he can.
The 29-year old midfielder also said he couldn’t show his worth because of the tactics employed by Manchester United’s coach.
“When I heard I could swap Man United for Arsenal, I said, ‘Yes, I want to do that’, I didn’t think twice. It’s important for me to play in an offensive team. I couldn’t have imagined a better start. I’d missed playing offensively. I joined Arsenal because Wenger wanted me, not because he wanted to replace Sanchez,” Mkhitaryan said.
The Armenian also denied to compare himself with Sanchez and explains that they are different players with different skills and abilities.
“We are different players and characters, with different abilities and skills, so I’ll try my best to do everything for the club. I want to write my name into Arsenal’s history and have my name as a legend here. I want to score goals, make assists and win trophies to make the fans happy,” he added.
Mkhitaryan struggled for consistency at United but has enjoyed a good start to life under Arsene Wenger, registering two goals and six assists in 11 appearances. The midfielder also won 2 player of the month and 1 goal of the month award.
