Manchester United were finally back to winning ways this week as Jose Mourinho’s side got the better of a Northampton side away from home on Wednesday. The 3-1 victory in the League Cup ended United’s 3 match losing streak and will give them some confidence going into the rest of the season.
Losses to Manchester City, Feyenoord, and Watford in the space of 8 days saw the manager get some serious thrashing for his methods at the club and it was evident in his post-match talk that he was not impressed by all the criticism.
Various papers in British media ran several stories of how the manager lashed on to the players after the defeat at Watford.
Reports suggested that Mourinho too out his full wrath on young full-back Luke Shaw and that the whole team were shocked to look at the ugly side of the manager after the defeat.
Having lost three games in a row, it was always bound to be a frustrating time for United but reports suggested that he may have overstepped his lines after the defeat.
This is now reported as one of the major reasons why the Manchester United manager decided to skip the post-match press conference after the victory in the League Cup.
Jose Mourinho, who was supposed to be present for a press meet after the match never showed up and is yet to talk about his team’s performances on the night over Northampton.
It is revealed that Mourinho was in no mood to face questions from the press about the altercation mentioned earlier and decided to skip the press-meet altogether.
UK media outlet Independent revealed later in the day the real reason why the manager snubbed the interview.
Independent’s Ian Herbert, confirmed they are “not contractually bound” to conduct post-match press conferences after EFL Cup ties and that Mourinho decided that he will not be available for the meet after the game against Northampton.

This will not go down well with the media personnel who were waiting for Mourinho who never showed up. He is ‘contractually bound’ to attend the press conference before the Leicester City game at the weekend and it looks like Mourinho will take the full wrath of the reports in that meet.
It is an interesting approach from Mourinho to stay out of the papers but there is just one problem with it. That is not how it works.
Mourinho cannot ignore the media whenever he wants as the media will finally catch up to him. He feels that he is unfairly criticized in publications but ignoring the reports will only make it worse.
Surely, the pre-match press conference before the Leicester City game at the weekend will be an entertaining watch.
