The Premier League season will start in another 11 days but Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has already begun the bad blood with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Arsene Wenger had mentioned a few days back that it was impossible for his team in the past few years to win the Premier League title given the financial status of the club.

Jose Mourinho guided Chelsea to their fourth Premier League title last season by spending moderately in the last transfer window. Thus, he has hit back at Wenger and said: “If you add up the amounts the clubs have spent in the last three or four years I think maybe you will find a surprise.

“Get a calculator. That is one of the easiest things to do. It leaves no space for speculation. If you want to be honest, objective and pragmatic it is the easiest job for a manager or a journalist to do.

“They have bought a fantastic goalkeeper and that is a position which is very important in a team.

“If you put Ozil plus Sanchez, plus Chambers, plus Debuchy you will maybe find a surprise.”

Chelsea had won a domestic double last season while Arsenal won the FA Cup and finished third in the league table 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.

Arsenal had bought Alexis Sanchez last summer from Barcelona and Mesut Ozil prior to that from Real Madrid. His marquee signings have done wonder for Wenger as he had won back to back FA Cup titles.

The Portuguese also praised the Arsenal squad and considered them as a serious title rivals along with the other big teams. He further said: “It’s a fantastic squad with good players, fantastic goalkeeper. They are more than ready to be title contenders.

“Everyone of us should expect to win the title. We have five teams who will play for the title, only one will win and one of us will be playing Europa League in two years.

“That is the reality, five teams for four Champions League positions, only one will be champion and one in Europa League.”
