Mourinho heaps praise on this star attacker after he rescues United with winning goal
Not for the first time in his career, Zlatan Ibrahimovic bailed his team out of jail with a crucial goal to win a match.
Manchester United were less than impressive during Thursday’s Europa League clash with Zorya Luhansk but when they needed someone to make the difference, Ibrahimovic stepped up to convert a scrappy headed chance for the game’s only goal.
The ex-Paris Saint-Germain striker has found the back of the net six times already in his brief spell at Old Trafford and is almost certainly one of the first names on Jose Mourinho’s team sheet right now.
There were plenty of critics who doubted the 34-year-old’s ability to perform in English football but Ibrahimovic’s start to the season has proven the belief that age is simply just a number.
His fitness certainly doesn’t appear to be an issue either as he is the only Man United player to feature in every single game of the campaign so far.
It is also fairly obvious that Ibrahimovic enjoys a great relationship with Mourinho, which originates from their time at Inter Milan together.
And Mourinho heaped praise on the centre-forward once again after the Red Devils’ latest victory.
“He’s a tremendous player,” Mourinho told MUTV. “Even if he doesn’t score goals the dynamic he gives to the team, the movement, the leadership in attacking organisation.
“Nobody can believe his age, what matters is the quality and the quality is amazing.”
Although the Swede only signed a one-year deal at the club, it looks increasingly likely he will extend his time in the Premier League beyond this season.
And if he continues to torment defenders on a weekly basis, there’s no reason why Ibrahimovic won’t still be playing at the top level well into his late 30’s.
