Must Watch: Arsenal Release Video Of Their Star Player’s Lightning Pace

Arsenal fans were given reason to cheer on Monday afternoon, with Hector Bellerin signing a new six-year contract that will keep him in north London until 2023.

Worth a reported £100,000-per-week, the Spaniard’s huge extension has effectively ruled out any potential move to Barcelona or Manchester City.

Upon committing his long-term future at Arsenal, he said: “I’ve been here a long time and feel like this is my home; I am happy to be a Gunner for many more years.

“I wasn’t thinking about anything else other than staying here and continuing my development here.

“Arsenal is not only about being a footballer, you have to be a good person to play here. That’s what everyone transmits inside the club.

“I’m a player who tries to be an example for everyone, not just on the pitch but off it as well.

“Now I’ve just got to keep on progressing, keep working hard to be the best player I can be, and hopefully help the team to be where it’s got to be, to win some silverware.”

And what better way to celebrate Bellerin’s new deal than to create a montage of the 21-year-old running ridiculously fast to make tackles that very few others can.

Bellerin is renowned for his blistering pace and the video below serves a reminder of just how important he is to Arsenal. It really is a must watch.

How he managed to catch up with Bafetimbi Gomis against Swansea City last season God only knows (see at 0:22).

Bellerin started some 25 feet behind the striker when Jonjo Shelvey played a through ball, yet he caught up and managed to produce a goal-preventing tackle.

Asked how the right-back has developed over the years, Arsene Wenger claimed it’s defensively where he has improved most.

“He has improved in his defensive responsibilities,” he said. “You see him now save dangerous situations in the central area of the centre-backs.

“We have seen that again against Tottenham where he made a tackle inside the box nearly on the left side, because he has that potential for covering runs that are fantastic.

“He’s developed very well his defensive qualities and he is more offensive and much more decisive in his offensive game.

“His physical potential is absolutely huge, not only is he quick but he can repeat. He can put the volume and the intensity into his game and you do not meet that often in your career.

“He has integrated the values that are important and also, because he is a carrier of the values that are important for the club, I think he will be one of the strong members of this club in the future.”
