Must Watch: Mesut Ozil’s amazing hattrick vs Ludogorets
Oct 20, 2016 at 11:30 AM
Arsenal was widely expected to trample Ludogorets at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, but no one quite foresaw a 6-0 mauling.
Goals from Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gave the Gunners a 3-0 lead with just 46 minutes played, but it was hat-trick hero Mesut Ozil that stole the show.
The Germany international was fantastic throughout the 90 minutes, scoring three brilliant – yet completely different – goals on what was a special night.
So clinical was Ozil that there can no longer be any doubt about his credentials as a world-class player.
Scroll down to watch his 30-minute hat-trick for Arsenal.

The first came with just under half hour played, where Ozil brought down Santi Cazorla’s inch-perfect pass under pressure, raced through on goal and slotted past Vladislav Stoyanov.

Almost 30 minutes would pass before the German had his second, finding space in the box to crash home Lucas Perez’s cross from down the left in the 83rd minute.

And four minutes later, he had his hat-trick. Perez was once again the provider, playing a lovely chipped pass for Ozil to volley into the bottom-right corner from just inside the 18-yard box.
One tweet perfectly summarized the quality of the 28-year-old’s display.
Ozil has invented a new type of shot hasn’t he?! Love those hit-into-the-ground-first shots. Coq, Ox excellent. Positive Perez cameo too ?

Ozil’s contract at Arsenal expires in 2018 and following his latest showing, Arsene Wenger will only hope he puts pen to paper on a new deal.
“I think these kind of players (Ozil and Sanchez) can raise a little bit above the financial aspect of the game because they are not poor and they have to look really at the football side,” he said recently.
“It is more about whether the club can meet their needs on the football front. If ‘yes’ then a Premier League club can find an agreement with the players. We still keep values we have at the club, of course, and we pay what we can afford.
“We still have a scale of wages. It has become a bit more individual than when I arrived 20 years ago because every case is a bit special. But don’t worry, they are all paid well.”
