Premier League giants Arsenal FC makes their second signing of the summer as thet rope in 16-year-old forward Donyell Malen from Eredivisie side Ajax.
The striker who has played for Netherlands youth national team was heavily linked with the Gunners. Though the club were not very keen to let their talent go, they have succumbed finally to the player’s wish of moving out of the club.
Wim Jonk, Ajax’s head of youth development, sounded unhapppy at the striker’s departure but said that Arsenal have a star potential on their hands.
The official club website quoted Jonk:“Donyell is a great talent. It is extremely unfortunate that he is leaving Ajax.
“We have made him an excellent offer and presented a clear development plan but the player has still made another choice, which is disappointing. The potential is clear and the opportunities will come with Ajax. We are continuing with the guys who do believe in it.”
Though Arsenal have signed the Dutch forward, but the player will not join the senior squad right now. Thus, Petr Cech is the only major transfer of the club this summer so far.
