Baba Rahman is a highly rated defender who played 31 Bundesliga matches in his debut season for Augsburg. A versatile player who is predominantly a full-back, can also play as a midfielder or a winger.
Jose Mourinho was looking for a defender to bolster his squad. Left-back Filipe Luis had left the club this summer due to lack of first team opportunities. Baba Rahman would perfectly replace Luis in this squad. He will be a cover for Cesar Azpilicueta.
After joining Chelsea Baba Rahman sounded excited. Speaking to the official website, Rahman said: “I am very happy to sign for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I can’t wait to train with my new team-mates and very much looking forward to working with them and Mr Mourinho.
‘I am also looking forward to having the opportunity to meet the fans as soon as possible.”
Baba Rahman had previously played for German side Greuther Furth in German for two seasons.
