Things would have been so different in Premier League if Paul Pogba had been allowed to make a switch to England in 2015. Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has made a sensational revelation about his client. Raiola has revealed that Jose Mourinho was keen to bring the France international at Stamford Bridge during his stint with the Blues. Mourinho had led Chelsea to title in the previous season and the agent said that Pogba would have joined them.
However, Raiola said that he and Juventus blocked the move after agreeing that Pogba would stay at Turin to help the Italian giants win the Champions League.
Raiola said: “Paul could have left [Juventus] last year because Mourinho – then at Chelsea – really wanted him.
“But Juventus and I had an agreement: win the league title and the Champions League, then he can go.”
Mourinho finally signed the Frenchman after taking the reigns at Manchester United. Pogba completed a world record £89million move from Juventus to the Red Devils during the summer transfer window. Raiola, who played an important part in the deal, also said that the Italian giants should be thankful to Pogba after his move allowed Juventus to purchase Gonzalo Higuain for £75 million.
Raiola added: “De Laurentiis should be giving Paul a present, because without his departure Juventus would never have bought Higuain, and he would never have been able to bank all that money.”
Meanwhile, the France star is experiencing a difficult start to life with the Old Trafford outfit. The midfielder has so far failed to justify his huge price tag and has received severe criticism for his dismal performances. He finally showed a glimpse of his immense potential when he netted in United’s 4-1 win over defending champions Leicester City last weekend. With the monkey off his back, Pogba would hope to build on his fine performance.
