Ramos says Real Madrid to head into CL final in best form

Manchester United are preparing a massive offer for Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

Ramos was linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer when former boss Louis van Gaal was in charge.

However, a move failed to materialise and the Dutchman was sacked in May with Ramos’ old Madrid manager Jose Mourinho taking his place.

And, according to Italian website Calcio Mercato, Mourinho is willing to fork out £42million to bring Ramos to Old Trafford.

That would make the 30-year-old the third most expensive defender on the planet behind Chelsea’s David Luiz and Manchester City’s John Stones.

Despite the reports, United shouldn’t be getting their hopes up over a summer deal.

Mourinho and Ramos infamously clashed at Madrid over the United manager’s treatment of club legend Iker Casillas in a spat that ultimately saw the manager leave the club for Chelsea in 2013.

The Portuguese has come under fire for criticising Luke Shaw after United’s 3-1 defeat to Watford at the weekend and blasted Ramos on several occasions during his time in Spain.

Ramos is currently aiming to win a third Champions League title with Madrid this season.

The 29-year-old scored in victorious finals over rivals Atletico Madrid in 2014 and 2016 and could make history by being the first captain to lift the trophy two years in a row.

Ramos has been at the top of his game for a long period of time. He spent a significant portion of his career as a right-back, that is where he started in 2008 European Championship and 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Later in his career, he made a permanent switch to play as a centre-half. At Real, he played a long time alongside Pepe and their partnership gifted the football Dark arts , as well as just plain gifted. They have been regarded as one of the massive threats in Real’s defence to any other teams in the world.

Sergio Ramos may be an excellent leader in the centre-half but doesn’t come without a cost. In 2014, Sergio he broke Real Madrid’s all-time record of red cards with 19. Likewise, the moon has a darker side, the good has certainly outweighed the bad for Ramos.

But United’s back line could use an additional aggression in presence of the Spaniard. While he walks the line and frequently oversteps, there is a void place in a defensive setup for someone who will be prepared to make his presence felt by the strikers.

Ramos knows what it means to be involved in a battle. He is indeed a hard working player. He always enjoys the physical challenge of the strikers being a true nightmare to any of the strikers in the world.
