The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, stated in a leaked audio tape from 2017 how Jose Mourinho forced Mesut Ozil to break up with his model girlfriend Aida Yespica. Shortly after making an impression for Germany at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Mesut Ozil signed with Real Madrid. In 157 games for the Los Blancos in all competitions, the player established himself as one of the top playmakers in the game under then-coach Mourinho. He also scored 27 goal for the club.

Yespica won Miss Venezuela in 2002 at the age of 20, as Mourinho claimed that she had relationships with numerous Inter Milan and AC Milan employees. She relocated to Italy to further her modelling career, where by 2003 she had become extremely famous.
