Kylian Mbappe is once again hogging all the limelight in a transfer window as concrete reports have emerged, stating that the French superstar is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain.

According to leading French outlet L’Équipé, the World Cup-winner has decided against triggering the option to extend his current contract until 2025. It means his current contract will expire next June 2024. PSG are reportedly very disappointed with the forward and have made their stance clear – sign a new deal or leave the club ahead of the upcoming season.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Mbappe recently said: “I didn’t ask to leave PSG or to join Real Madrid. I just told the club that I won’t activate the option to extend the contract until June 2025. We never discussed new deal with PSG but I’m happy to stay here next season.”

However, the French champions have made it clear to Mbappe that they are not willing to lose him for free. The star player has been given the ultimatum to sign a new deal or be ready to be sold. Just like the transfer saga of the previous season, Mbappe now finds himself on the backfoot once again as his future is very much in the hands of club.

Kylian Mbappe interested in Manchester United

While only time will tell where Kylian Mbappe plays in the upcoming season, it is likely that he may not join his dream club Real Madrid. While Madrid will be keen to sign up the player to replace Karim Benzema, PSG are in no mood to do business with the La Liga giants.

According to Spanish news program Carrusel Deportivo, PSG are looking to sell the player to any club other than Real Madrid. Last summer, Real Madrid had almost signed the player before PSG somehow managed to convince him to extend his contract. PSG are still miffed with the turn of events last season and do not want the player to go to Real Madrid.

Amidst all these, Spanish outlets have claimed that the France international is interested in joining Manchester United. El Pais has reported that if United is taken over by Qatari investors, it could potentially open the door for a remarkable transfer. Mbappe has still not made a final call on his next club but is reportedly interested in the project at Manchester United.

Meanwhile, recent reports from the Middle East have suggested that Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani has emerged as the winner in the race to take over ownership of Manchester United. Sheikh Jassim has been competing with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos to buy the Premier League club.

According to Al-Watan, a newspaper owned by Sheikh Jassim’s father, the Qatari bid for Manchester United has been successful. They further state that an announcement regarding Sheikh Jassim’s takeover will be made soon after “successful” negotiations.
