Star striker set to leave Manchester City reveals manager Manuel Pellegrini
The 29 year old striker is transfer target for Italian giants AS Roma and they would be delighted with the news.
Even Giallorossi captain Francesko Totti urged the team to sign the Bosnia and Herzegovina international few days ago.
Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini was seen boarding a plane for Manchester and City are reportedly demanding £20 million fee for the former Wolfsburg man.
Although, Dzeko joined the Citizens on their pre season tour to Australia but he has not featured in the matches against Melbourne City and Roma alongwith his colleague Stevan Jovetic who is also linked with a move to Italy and Inter Milan are frontrunners to sign the Montenegrin striker.
And Pellegrini said in a news conference: “Edin didn’t play the last game as it’s not clear if he will continue here but he is still working here with the whole squad.“
Dzeko fell out of favour last season when he only scored two goals in his last 23 appearances and was an unused substitute in City’s final six games of the campaign.
Pellegrini shifted to 4-2-3-1 formation at the later half of the season and he lost his place with the only striker being Serio Aguero.
The former Wolfsburg striker, who moved to Etihad for £27 million in 2011, has three years left on the lucrative contract extension he signed in 2014.
City will face Pellegrini’s former club Real Madrid in their International champions Cup match on Friday and Pellegrin i stated that new signing Fabian Delph will debut for the club in that match.
Pellegrini explained: “I think that the senior players will have more minutes than the last game and I think Delph will be involved.“
The Chilean managed Real in the 2009-10 season and added: “It’s always special to play against Real Madrid, especially because of the way the fans supported me when I left there.“
