Pep Guardiola Reveals What Will Manchester City Do On Transfer Deadline Day

The January transfer window this campaign has not been at its sparkling best as it is yet to witness a season changing switch in clubs for star players.

The clubs in the Premier League have been relatively busy trying to get their transfer targets to agree for deals with Chelsea and Manchester United still active in the market.

But one club that is set to end the month with no new signings is Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The Citizens are currently in the 5th place in the points table, 13 points off Chelsea at the top and have little to no chance of the title this campaign.

They are alive in the FA Cup and also going strong in the Champions League and Guardiola was reportedly looking for players who could have helped him in his troubles at the club for the rest of the season.

However, the Etihad outfit have now revealed that they are not going to make any last minute buys in the window and that they are happy to stay unchanged.

For a side that spends more than £150m in the summer, Manchester City have been relatively silent, having not made a single incoming transfer and the manager today revealed that he is happy with the squad at his disposal.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game against West Ham, Pep Guardiola revealed that Manchester City are planning to end the deadline day with no further deals in or out of the club.

Reports suggested that the Citizens made a late £20million bid for Valencia left-back Jose Luis Gaya but the manager was adamant that there will be no incomings to the club this month.

“I said no because we have enough good players already. The window is important for the club, players but every weekend I am so sad because I have to leave three or four players at home,” Guardiola said in a recent interview.

He also went on to explain that he has enough star players in the squad to balance all three competitions and that he is happy to give the fringe players in the squad more game time rather than spend big on replacements.

“So when that happens why should we buy more players. If players leave, maybe you could consider buying another one but today is the last day and I am happy with my players,” he added.

Venezuelan midfielder Yangel Herrera is still linked with the club and it must be seen if Guardiola sticks with his word till the window is shut.
