Pique After defeat: “Deportivo Deserved To Win”

Gerrard Pique has admitted he is not concerned by Barcelona’s shock defeat to Deportivo La Coruna.
Barcelona fell to a 2-1 defeat to Deportivo La Coruna at the Estadio Riazor this evening.
The loss comes just days after their heroic comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
And Gerard Pique has claimed he is not concerned by the defeat to Deportivo, claiming the Barca players are not “machines”.
“Everyone connected to Barcelona would have signed up to comeback against PSG and lose to Deportivo,” Pique said.
“That is sport. We’re not machines.
“After Wednesday’s effort it made it difficult to compete. We have to congratulate Deportivo, they’re deserved winners.
However, Pique has insisted the win against PSG in midweek is not a valid excuse for dropping points against Deportivo.
“Depor also played in midweek [a 1-1 draw with Real Betis],” he added.
“It’s not an excuse. The calendar is tough for everyone.
“Every game demands a huge effort. It’s a step back, but in the last few months we’ve seen that all teams can drop points.
