The top of the table this season bares a unique look with Leicester City at the top but Tottenham Hotspur has been a team that has now almost cemented its place in the top 4 this season.
It is beyond doubt now that Mauricio Pochettino has assembled a top group of players who are relatively young and is having them play some scintillating football this season.
However, these performances have seen the Argentine manager linked with Manchester United and Chelsea with a move this summer.
But in a recent interview, the 43-year old explained that he was happy at White Hart Lane and that he is not thinking about a move in the summer.
This season, the Lilly whites have launched a serious title challenge, and are now sitting just two point of the league leaders with 12 games in hand.
Pochettino after his time at Espanyol earned a lot of respect and was appointed at Southampton. He shone there before moving to north London and has earned a reputation of being one of the best young coaches in Europe.
Chelsea who appointed Guus Hiddink as an interim manager till the end of the season are still in search for a top class manager and have reportedly identified Pochettino as one of the four candidates short listed,
The Mirror also claimed that there is a possibility of the Argentine replacing Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford but the manager seems unfazed by everything going around about him.
“I am very happy to be in England and very happy at Tottenham,” he said.
I think it is fantastic, we create a fantastic atmosphere at this club, all the staff, the people that work in the club, the players, the supporters, it is fantastic,”
Tottenham beat Manchester United in their last Premier League game and are high on confidence going into the game against Fiorentina in the Europa league. He explained that the City win will give his team a lot of confidence.
He said, “It was great against Manchester City to show the commitment of the players, the staff and the supporters and that we share the same values.”
Pochettino arrived at White Hart Lane in 2014 and signed a 5 year contract with the club. His success so far at the club has promoted suggestions of a contract extension.
However, when asked about this situation, Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust, chairman Daniel Levy appeared in no rush to offer the manager a new deal.
Minutes taken from the meeting between the Trust and Levy note: “In response to fan questions, THST asked when MP [Mauricio Pochettino] would be rewarded with a new contract? DL [Daniel Levy] replied there are 3.5 years left on the current one at this stage.”
Do you think Pochettino will remain at Tottenham for the next season?
