Predicted line up of Manchester United against Liverpool
After settling for a disappointing 3-3 draw against the Magpies, Manchester United now travel to Anfield for their next Premier League fixture. Louis van Gaal’s red and white army will face rivals Liverpool. The Merseyside club has been undergoing several hamstring injuries which has caused distress among the squad. Captain Rooney who seems to have gained back his old form will be into action on Sunday as all eyes will be on him to net some stunners.
The Liverpool F.C.–Manchester United F.C. rivalry is a high profile inter-city rivalry. It is considered to be one of the biggest rivalries in the world football. Ahead of Sunday’s clash at Anfield, we take a look at the expected line up of the Red Devils to face Klopp’s army.
Manchester United XI
David De Gea
If it wasn’t for this flying Spaniard, United wouldn’t have even half of their points they have secured now. De Gea is undoubtedly the best player of the squad this season.
The full-back is set to become only the second Italian to represent the Reds in the Barclays Premier League at the Merseyside ground after the first, Massimo Taibi. Darmian was naturally upset to see Newcastle United snatch a late equaliser in the 3-3 draw on Tuesday night and aims to win against the Reds.
Blind hasn’t lived up to the hype which was created during his arrival at the club. The Dutchman had a fairly decent game against the Magpies and should be looking to improve at Anfield.
Termed as the most consistent defender of the squad this season, Smalling had a nightmare in the game against Newcastle. One cannot expect Smalling to repeat the same performance against the Merseyside club.
His crosses have been poor lately and the Englishman is losing his charm. Young was also rumoured with a move away from Old Trafford soon.
Formerly there were often debates on Herrera’s exclusion in the starting XI but now that Ander has been given a chance to start always, he hasn’t been any good either. The last few games have been pathetic for the Spaniard.
Mata hasn’t been in the best of his form but his marvelous goal against the Reds at Anfield is one of the best memories of the derby. One would expect him to put up the same show this time as well
Schneiderlin too often gets left out on being included in the starting line up. In the game at St James Park, he hardly contributed anything to the game.
Lingard is highly possible to replace Fellaini in this game’s starting XI after the Serbian has a disastrous game last time as he missed a massive sitter.
Playing Martial on the right wing is one of the major mistakes committed by Louis van Gaal. He can contribute the best when played upfront with Rooney as the duo is lethal.
Rooney has kicked off 2016 with goals and it looks as if the Englishman is regaining his commendable form. Being uptop with Martial will probably help United score some good goals.
