After a decent run of form in the last few games, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are back on track in the Premier League as they are now placed the closest to Chelsea at the top of the table.
They are also active in the Champions League, giving Guardiola a shot at silverware and the manager will be happy if he can snatch Europe’s elite trophy in his first season at the Etihad.
Though he spent insane amount of money in the summer transfer window before the start of the season, Pep Guardiola is evidently unhappy with the squad at his disposal and is looking to add a few players yet again this summer.
There are a few weak links in the squad at the moment and Guardiola wants to address the goalkeeper’s position to start off with at the end of the season.
The manager has been looking at some star players in this position including the likes of Jordan Pickford and Gianluigi Donnarumma for a move in the summer but reports today suggest that he is now plotting a move for the best in the business.
According to reports from Transfer Market Web, the Spanish manager is now determined to do what it takes to land World Cup winner Manuel Neuer in the summer.
Arguably the best player in his position in Europe at the moment, Neuer, has already played under Guardiola not so long ago and it is understood that the manager is confident of landing him at the end fo the season.
The German shot-stopper has helped Bayern win 4 Bundesliga titles in the last 4 years but it is understood that he could be up for a new challenge and might be interested in a reunion with his former manager in Manchester.
Pep Guardiola spent big to get former Barcelona star Claudio Bravo to the club in the summer but the Chilean has been all over the place this season and is no longer the first choice at the club.
He has cost the club some points in his first season and Guardiola wants the 30-year old German to help his side from the next season.
Manchester City are also set to offload Joe Hart in the summer for a hefty price and Guardiola will surely look to add some money and make a mega bid for the German star in the upcoming transfer window.
The same report reveals that Barcelona may also be looking to lure Neuer to their club, with Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, also not at his best but that Manchester City will offer higher wages that the Spanish counterparts.
