Manchester United’s infamous owners the Glazers family could finally be ousted as they are reportedly ready to sell the club. The United fans have been long staging protests against the ownership of the Glazers, pinning the blame of the club’s downfall on them. Their desperate cries could finally be heard as the American family gears up to give up the Red Devils’ ownership.

As a result, The Emirates Group, which is owned by the government of Dubai’s Investment Corporation of Dubai is fancying its chances to takeover the 20-time Premier League champions. They could become the third party from the Middle-East if they succeed in acquiring Man United to own a club in the Premier League after the Abu Dhabi Group’s acquisition of Manchester City and Saudi Arabia Public Fund’s Newcastle United takeover.

Glazers family slap a hefty price-tag on Manchester United

The Glazers, led by Avram Glazer were first associated with Manchester United in 2003, buying 3% share of the club. It rose to 30% by the end of 2004 and in 2005, the Glazers finally bought out the then owners J.P McManus and John Magnier for £790 million to takeover the Red Devils.

Their journey with the club was quite fascinating, until Sir Alex Ferguson was a the helm. The legendary manager left in 2013 and the club has since struggled to cope up with the fact. United are yet to win the Premier League title since 2013, and have further lost their ‘title contenders’ status as well.

The fans have lashed out at the Glazers who have failed to invest in the club smartly. As a result, they have faced massive outburst from the fans and former players as well against their ownership. Calls for the Glazers to sell the club have also been made in recent years given their significant downfall.

According to Daily Mail, the Glazers are ready to part ways with arguably the biggest club of England, and have even tagged a label with the price of the club on it. Glazers reportedly want to recoup a whopping £3.75 billion from a potential sale of the Manchester United. Many have already circled around Old Trafford after the news broke out, with the The Emirates Group most keen.

English billionaire Sir James Ratcliffe has also expressed his wish to buy the club he has been a fan of for a long time now. Sir James was also in the running to buy Chelsea Football Club which was earlier put on sale by Roman Abramovich. However, American businessman Todd Boehly outbid him and took over the Blues.

United fans however will be excited to know that a candidate from the Middle-East is plotting to take over their club. They have witnessed the massive changes which rang across Man City and Newcastle. Heavy and apt investments have helped the two clubs significantly as City have went on to lift four Premier League titles in last five years. Whereas Newcastle finished ninth last season from fighting the relegation battle after the Saudi Group’s spending in January.

Glazers too tried the stunt of splashing the cash this summer in order to cool down the protests from the fans. They spent over £200 million on six signings this transfer window, brining in the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Antony. It still hasn’t convinced the fans though, who once again gathered to protest against the Glazers family ahead of their Arsenal clash at Old Trafford.
