Alexis Sanchez Received Bizarre Phone Call From Rival Manager After His Bournemouth Hat-Trick
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has reportedly phone called Alexis Sanchez after his sensational hat-trick against West Ham United inside 15 minutes to lure him to the Etihad.
The Chile international, who has been a revelation in his centre-forward role, continued his red-hot form against the Hammers as Arsene Wenger thrashed them 5-1 to move second in the Premier League table. However, his reluctance to sign a contract extension is a huge concern for the Gunners. Sanchez, who arrived at the Emirates in 2014, has become one of the most important players for Wenger and losing him will undoubtedly be a big blow.
The former Barcelona star, whose current contract expires in 18 months, has been in negotiations for quite some time but nothing solid has panned out yet. Reports are suggesting that the player is demanding a pay rise which the club hierarchy is not willing to accept. The contract situation has put several clubs on red alert with Manchester City being one of them.
The Arsenal star is now the joint leading goal-scorer in the league with 11 goals which has compelled Guardiola to make a move for his former player. The Spanish tactician spent a year with the Chilean during his stint with Barcelona and Chilean news outlet El Mercurio has claimed that the City gaffer called him after the West Ham game. The report further claimed that the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has held talks with Sanchez on two separate occasions as he is desperate to secure the services of the Chilean.
Guardiola is keen to bolster his squad and his desperation will only increase after his team lost 3-1 to table-toppers Chelsea. Sanchez, who is a proven player in the league, is his top-most priority and if the Gunners do not sort out his future soon, Sanchez can join the long list of top players who left the Emirates in recent seasons.
