Premier League manager will be 'very pleased' to offer escape route to Manchester United star! 1

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has said that he will be a ‘very pleased man’ if the Toffees sign out of favor Manchester United star Wayne Rooney. The England international has been dropped from the starting eleven by Jose Mourinho and things are still not looking good for the striker.

The United star, who still has two and half years left on his current contract, started the season poorly and was dropped from the starting eleven after United’s shock 1-3 loss to Watford. Since then he had been used as a substitute in three league games. The 31-year old missed United’s 4-0 thrashing to Chelsea last week. With enough playing time hard to get, there are speculations that Rooney might leave the Red Devils soon. There were also reports that claimed Mourinho has told the player’s representatives that he cannot guarantee regular playing time for the underperforming striker and told them to eye other options if they are not fine with it.

He is recently linked with a move to MLS outfit LA Galaxy and Serie A giants Inter Milan. And now Koeman has said that he would like to see Rooney join his old club that he left 12 years ago.

Koeman said: “First of all, I think he is a great player, and he has still not finished his career.

“But even when we get one time the possibility that Rooney is an option for Everton, I’m very pleased.”

Rooney’s former Everton team-mate Leon Osman has also backed the striker to return at Goodison Park.

“It would not surprise me,” he told Sky Sports’ Fantasy Football Club.

“I think he has been mending bridges for a couple of seasons now and you know he is an Evertonian at heart.
“I am pretty sure he would love to come back and I hope it happens.”
