Premier League star Gives Latest Update On his Future, Man United Wait Anxiously for Top Target

Of all the players one might be surprised by how ‘little’ they earn compared to other stars, Harry Kane probably does not make the list.

The Tottenham star was awarded the Premier League Golden Boot last season after netting 25 goals and surely deserves a wage packet on par with the best in the division – especially as a full England international.

To the surprise of many, reports have emerged indicating that is far from the case despite his crucial status in the Spurs squad.

The 23-year-old’s current deal runs until 2020 and sees him earn almost half as much as international colleagues Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge – who both take home upwards of £100,000-per-week at Leicester and Liverpool respectively.

The situation has led to reports Manchester United may consider using their financial muscle to lure Kane away from White Hart Lane – a scenario to which the striker has responded with conviction.

Kane – who has so far netted five goals including two late strikes to secure a 3-2 victory over West Ham on Saturday – claims he has no intention of leaving the club in the near future.

“Hopefully we will have no issues with the contract,” Kane said, as per the Mirror.

“I am happy at the club and want to be here for a long, long time. We are in talks and I’m sure we will get something sorted.

“We’ve got a great young team, new training ground, new stadium being built, great young manager. The future is very bright. It’s important that we keep hold of all our players and keep building on this great team that we have.

“For us, now it’s to start winning trophies and competitions – that’s the next step.”

Kane has admitted to being flatted by interest from the likes of United but insists his focus remains on banging in goals for his current employers.

“I think it shows that I am doing well, for one thing,” added Kane. “I am happy here. We have only just started talking about it.

“I’m fully concentrated on playing for Tottenham and winning for Tottenham and I think there are no doubts that my mind is anywhere else.

“A lot of people are going to speculate about contracts but I am happy – you saw me out there today. There’s not many better feelings than being at White Hart Lane and scoring in a London derby.”

Loyalty is becoming an increasingly rare commodity amid the growing influence of money in top-level football, so one has to admire Kane for not kicking up a fuss about the situation.

However, Spurs would be wise to act quickly on offering him a financial reward worthy of his output for the team.
