Paris Saint-Germain are on the hunt of a new striker and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has now emerged as a target for them, according to L’Equipe. The Parisians are keen on adding more firepower to their attack which consists of Leo Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, despite the signing of young striker Hugo Ekitike this summer from Reims on loan.

The French champions currently have Mauro Icardi as their no.9 who could leave before the deadline day. The Argentine’s failure to deliver on the pitch, coupled with his too many issues off the pitch have disappointed PSG who want to replace him. L’Equipe further adds PSG have already approached Rashford’s representatives and would want to accelerate a potential deal.

Rashford ‘open minded’ over a move to PSG

Marcus Rashford’s current deal with United expires next summer, with an option of extending by another 12 months. However, the striker’s future at Old Trafford has long been a topic of discussion since he is yet to pen a long term deal with the club. The 24-year-old also has often reported to unhappy over his playing undefined playing position at the club, and lack of regular minutes.

While initially starting his United career as a center-forward, Rashford was further moved to the left-wing. Last season as well, 16 of his 25 appearances came as a winger, whereas only 8 were from the middle. He however managed only 4 goals for the 21/22 season, since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and a shoulder injury meant his playing time would be cut-short.

As a result, the England international is ready to try a new challenge moving from his boyhood club. ESPN have further reported that Rashford’s agents have entered the talks with PSG with an ‘open mind’ over a move to Parc des Princes. On the other hand, the Parisians are yet to put any formal bid on United’s table for their player.

Talking in a presser ahead of PSG’s next game, their new manager Christophe Galtier confirmed that the sporting director Luis Ocampos is working hard to land another striker after Ekitike. He said: “We wish the arrival of a new striker. With a very busy calendar until Nov. 13, plus the World Cup, obviously we wish this arrival. The club is working very hard.

“I am in direct contact with [sporting director] Luis Campos on this and he is in direct contact with the management and our president. I cannot confirm it but the club is working hard on this position.”

While United may be reluctant in letting their talent go, a massive offer for Rashford could change their mind. The academy graduate still has an year left on his contract and he could fetch a lot of money for the Red Devils who are unable to complete their priority transfers.
