After their hard fought 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain at Parc de Princes in the Round of 16 stage of Champions League, Chelsea club and fans unfortunately have to remember the racism shown by a group of Chelsea supporters.

The Blues supporters were shouted as they were preventing a black man to enter the metro in Paris and the video has gone viral which resulted in Chelsea making a public statement. It was a brutal verbal and physical abuse on the black man.

When the victim was trying to board the train, they chanted: “Chelsea! Chelsea! Chelsea!” in hs face and pushed him away from the train multiple times. The fans then started chanting a song that appears to be celebrating what has just happened and includes the line: “We’re racist, we’re racist and that’s the way we like it” while a black woman is standing directly in front of them.

The black woman also quickly moved away from the train as the racist feelings were at such high peaks with the Chelsea supporters. This could lead to a ban or fine for the club if the UEFA considers to take a disciplinary action against Chesea.

The Chelsea statement read: “Such behaviour is abhorrent and has no place in football or society. We will support any criminal action against those involved, and should evidence point to involvement of Chelsea season-ticket holders or members the club will take the strongest possible action against them, including banning orders.”

The Guradian also caught up with the guy who recorded the video Paul Nolan. He said, ” I was just completely appalled by it and so that’s why I tried to catch some of it on my phone, although I was a bit self-conscious as it was getting quite aggressive and I overhead one of the Chelsea fans say something about stabbing someone. I think he was referring to a Paris Saint-Germain supporter who was on the platform. There definitely was a culture shock. I heard a couple of French guys saying: ‘I can’t believe this. It’s insane.”

It was also reported that French police reportedly used teargas outside the match venue amid scuffles involving Chelsea fans before the game.
