Raheem Sterling is currently undergoing a medical ahead of his move to Manchester City.

 

The fee is reported to be around £49 million and Liverpool will get 80% of the fee after giving the rest 20% to Sterling’s former club Queens Park Rangers who had a sell on clause on the 20 year old winger.

The transfer saga of the young English international has been one of the most discussed transfer stories recently.

Sterling’s current Liverpool contract will end in 2016 and the starlet refused to sign an extension offered by the Merseyside club at the end of last season.

The player alongwith his agent stated publicly about his desire to leave Anfield numerous times.

Liverpool previously rejected two bids from the Citizens for Steling which were believed to be worth £30 million and £40 million but the third bid of £49 million was too much to reject.

The pacey winger threatened his former employers to go on strike against the club and refused to go to pre season tour with the Reds.

Sterling missed Liverool training for consecutive two days by calling in sick.

 

 

Liverpool fans were angered with the 20 year old star for his actions and posted his phone number on Twitter and abused the number 31 for Liverpool.

The player’s close parties claimed that Sterling is leavig Anfield for their manager Brendan Rodgers and if the Northern Irishman was not in charge, he would have stayed.

Former legends of the club Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher criticised their former teammate for his unprofessionnal actions towards his employers.

However, the transfer will make both parties happy as Liverpool are getting rid of their want away star for such a huge amount of money and Manchester City are bringing arguably the brightest prospect in worl football and more importantly an English player to fulfil their home-grown quota.

On 24 March 2012, Sterling made his senior Liverpool debut as a substitute in a league match against Wigan Athletic, aged 17 years and 107 days, becoming the third-youngest player to play for the club in the process.

Since then the player improved and improved and currently the best young player in Europe, according to studies.

Sterling made a total of 123 appearances for the Reds and scored 23 goals.

Sterling is going to be only the second signing at the Etihad after the capture of Turkish 18 year old wonderkid Enes Unal.
