Ramires, the tireless Brazilian who had been instrumental for Chelsea in their only European Cup triumph, scoring arguably the best goal in the competition against the then-mighty Barcelona is understood to be looking for a move away from the Blues as he looks for more opportunities to play.
Ramires has been a bench player for Chelsea for quite some time now and has seen his role relegate from a wide shuttler to a defensive option for the Blues. He was a second choice player in the midfield ever since Matic and Fabregas wreaked havoc on the league last season as Chelsea romped to the title.
This season, with Matic’s embarrassing form, Ramires was restored to the squad under Mourinho but ever since Hiddink’s return to Chelsea, Mikel has usurped that position back from the Brazilian. The player now feels he should move on from the club he has been a loyal servant of over the years.
The player had just renewed his contract earlier in the season until 2019 with the Pensioners but has seen a dramatic loss of playing time since then. The fact that he is about to hit 30 this year, makes it incredibly important for the player to look for other clubs as he is in is prime and will lose all the playing skills needed at the top level over the course of 3 to 4 years at the most.
Keeping this in mind, the Blue Kenyan has been tasked with weighing up the possibility to moving to German powerhouses Borussia Dortmund or to the Italian giants Juventus. In either move, he will be a second choice player but would definitely be afforded more playing time than he would possibly receive with the Blues.
The final straw in the player’s decision might’ve been the moment Ruben Loftus-Cheek grabbed his goal against Scunthorpe as he will now definitely be demanding more minutes and the fans’ obvious adoration of the youngster coupled with his impressive showing make a great case for him.
