Real Madrid Plot Move For Liverpool Star If Eden Hazard Transfer Fails
Real Madrid is looking to make a move for Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum if they fail to finalise the transfer for Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, according to reports.
Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb reveals that Los Blancos are considering a shock move for the Dutchman who has joined Liverpool only last summer. The Reds have paid a massive £23 million to Newcastle United to sign the exciting midfielder.
The 26-year old is an important player in Liverpool’s setup this season as Jurgen Klopp has backed Wijnaldum and has given plenty of starts for the central midfielder. He has scored five goals and assisted six more in Premier League this season making him one of the best midfielders in the league this season.
Wijnaldum still has a contract with Liverpool for another four years but a move to Real Madrid is something only a few players in the world can reject. But Liverpool is not keen to sell their star player as they could eye a deal for Isco in return for a potential move if Madrid is determined to land the Dutch midfielder.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is keen to tie down Eden Hazard to a new contract amid increasing interest from Real Madrid. The Blues are determined to keep hold of their star as their new deal would see him stay at Stamford Bridge till 2021.
The report also suggests Wijnaldum and Hazard are not the only players that are under the radar of Real Madrid as Los Blancos are ready to finalise a deal for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea this summer.
The Spaniard has been linked with European champions for a few years now and was close to joining the club a couple of years ago. However, Real Madrid is keen to ensure that the Spanish stopper comes to Santiago Bernabeu in the summer as goalkeeper position is one of the weakest positions in the star-studded Real Madrid squad.
