Arsene Wenger came into the 2015/16 season without adding to his squad as he purchased no outfield player in the summer. Wenger put extreme faith on his squad and expected them to deliver the goods at least till January.
Looking at the table, Wenger’s gamble payed off but not without a risk. The number of injuries to first team players left the Gunners weak in certain areas and even as the some of the players are on their way back to full fitness, the manager will surely try and plunge into the transfer market to provide his squad a cushion for injuries.
In one of the most interesting rumors in recent times, Real Madrid play maker Isco is reportedly on the verge of completing a move to the Emirates this January.
Isco who is widely regarded as one of the best technical players in the country has not been able to impress the new boss Rafa Benitez and has fallen down the pecking order. He has just 3 assists and no goals in his 13 appearances for the club and is unsettled.
Spanish publication Marca claimed that Isco who is on a terrible run of form is on his way out of the Spanish capital. Marca criticized the 23-year old and accused him of being a mere spectator when on the field.
The same paper published that Manchester City are also in the race to sign Isco and that they are looking to hijack the players move to the Emirates. With these rumors doing the rounds, it is almost inevitable that Isco will move out of Real Madrid sooner rather than later.
Arsenal are favorites now to sign the mid-fielder and with the detailed report on Isco in Marca suggests that Arsenal are just a step away from snatching the Spanish international.
The Gunners already have the likes of Cazorla, Wilshere, Ozil and Sanchez and might not be the right suitors for Isco. However, a chance to play in one of the strongest teams in the EPL might be too hard to turn down and the silky mid-fielder might seal his move to England any time soon.
Arsenal who are at the top of the table at the turn of the year will face the Magpies at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
