Atletico Madrid full-back Juanfran has made a shocking revelation of twice rejecting the chance to join Arsenal last summer. Juanfran was speaking to the local radio station Radio Marca where he gave the details of his refusals.

Arsenal were heavily linked with a right full-back in the summer as a replacement to the departing Bacry Sagna. As per Juanfran’s claims, Arsenal had submitted two bids for the 30-year old full back but the Spaniard turned Arsene Wenger on both the occasions.

Arsenal ended up signing Newcastle’s Matthiew Debuchy who has been struggling with injuries since joining the gunners.

Juanfran credits his stay at Atletico Madrid to his manager Diego Simeone. The Spanish full-back has vowed to stay loyal to his manager even when others have chosen to move on. Atletico Madrid saw Diego Costa and Filipe Luis leave in the summer but Juanfran decided to stick with Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone.

In his interview with Radio Marca, Juanfran said: “Loyal to Atletico? I know where I am. Atletico made a massive effort to keep me here. I turned down two offers from Arsenal. It’s what I feel. I feel better every day. Every day that passes, I’m keener to do things well.”
