Jose Mourinho has been told that club hierarchy will hold crisis talks over his future after the Champions League match against Porto.

Jose Mourinho is safe for now, despite Chelsea succumbed to another humiliating 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth at home on Saturday.

However, club owner Roman Abramovich was alarmed when he heard supporters booing their team during the shock loss, and it is understood that the Russian owner will review current situation once the European fate of Mourinho and his team is decided.

The struggling Portuguese manager is still being consulted on January transfer targets as the club hierarchy believes Mourinho is still the right man in charge to turn things around.

But if the Blues taste defeat to Porto triggering an early Champions League exit, it could make them analyse again with the defending champions ironically now 14 points behind a top four place.

One of the main reasons why Abramovich still has faith on Mourinho, is the continuing support the manager has among Chelsea fans. But if that scenario were to change in the coming weeks, then all bets are off leaving Special One in great danger.

Mourinho continued the training sessions yesterday knowing that he has to lift his shell-shocked team for one of the biggest encouters of his long career.

Despite the Portuguese boss admitted he has no right to ask for any signings in the transfer market after the frustrating performances, Chelsea owner Abramovich is eager to spend next January.

Mourinho’s main problem is that his major targets in the likes of Paul Pogba, John Stones and Antoine Griezmann, all seem to be out of reach in January transfer window.

Shakhtar Donetsk are also now playing hardball over their star player Alex Teixeira, despite the Brazilian admitting he wants to play under Mourinho. However, Chelsea think a bid of £30m would be enough to lure Shakhtar to do buisness. A move for West Bromwich misfit Saido Berahino has also been discussed in recent weeks. But they are not currently placing any kind of bid for Harry Kane or Jamie Vardy.

Blues captain John Terry is expected to return from an ankle injury against the high voltage clash against Porto, a match which Mourinho believes as “a knockout game”.

He admitted: “It’s a group phase game where normally you play for points. But the reality is that it’s a knockout. Big game.”

Midfielder Nemanja Matic remains optimistic: “We are in a difficult moment and it is going to be hard to come back from this, but we have to try to resolve this situation and work hard and recover the situation.”
