Revealed: What Diego Costa Said To Pedro During The Bust-Up At White Hart Lane?

Calling Pedro his ‘brother’, Chelsea striker has downplayed his bust-up with the fellow Spaniard during Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

The heated argument occurred during the first half of the match when Pedro refused to run into space to receive Costa’s pass during one of Chelsea’s counter-attacking moves. A furious Costa gave Pedro a piece of his mind and the incident started to look uglier when the former Barcelona forward continued the argument. The pair was involved in an argument for around a minute before concentrating on the match.

And now Costa has revealed what was said during the heated altercation. Insisting that everything was fine between the duo, the Brazil-born striker said the incident happened in the heat of the moment.

“Nothing happened,” the 27-year old told the International Business Times.

“We have a great understanding with each other. When you have a trusted relationship and intimacy with a team-mate, it is normal for these things to happen.
“It was just a moment during the game and that’s it. It was nothing.

“I told him: ‘You have to get in there, why didn’t you go?’ He said ‘I went’ and I said he didn’t. That’s it.
“Pedro is my brother and we love each other.”

Earlier, the incident was also played down by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Speaking after the 2-0 defeat against the Spurs, he had said:“I think this is normal… the normal situation on the pitch. A good chance for us and we wasted this chance – so [it’s] normal [they were] disappointed.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea will look to bounce back from their first defeat in 14 games. A brace from Dele Alli ended Chelsea’s 13-match winning streak but the Blues are still leading the table and are five points ahead of second-placed Liverpool. Their next match in the league is against defending champions Leicester City on January 15.
