Revealed: The fastest player at Arsenal right now!

The pace in Arsenal’s squad isn’t always noticeable – mainly because they’re usually in possession of the ball and working towards that killer through pass – but it’s certainly there.

From Hector Bellerin in defence to Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in attack, Arsene Wenger’s team is capable of putting a team away in one swift move.

In Bellerin and Walcott, the Gunners possess two of the quickest players in the Premier League.

The Spaniard’s 40m time of 4.41 seconds was quicker than Usain Bolt’s time of 4.64 seconds over the same period when he set a world record in the 100m in 2009.

As for Walcott, well he was the fastest player in FIFA 16. And FIFA is never wrong.

It’s Bellerin, though, who takes the title as Arsenal’s speediest player. Alex Iwobi confirmed as much when he spoke to FourFourTwo.

Yet Iwobi, who has established himself as a first-team regular this season, couldn’t believe the 21-year-old came out on top when Arsenal conducted their speed tests.

When asked who his quickest teammate is, Iwobi replied: “Hector Bellerin.

“I didn’t believe it was him until we did the tests and he won. It was crazy.”

Being the fastest player at the Emirates Stadium is kind of a big deal. Thierry Henry set the marker when he ran 40m in 4.82 but Walcott blitzed that in 2009 by clocking 4.42 seconds.

The 27-year-old must have been furious, then, when Bellerin set the record by one-hundredth of a second in 2014.

According to the former Barcelona product, the distance between the pair has only widened since.

“Everyone keeps telling me different numbers,” he told The Sun when discussing their 2015 race. “But I know I beat Theo by literally one-hundredth of a second after he had beaten Thierry, so you can do the maths.

“It was very close last year but this year I beat Theo by more of a distance. He won’t tell you that, though!”

Ballerin showcased his blistering speed when he assisted Mesut Ozil’s goal in the Gunners’ 2-0 win against Bayern Munich last season.

And he was at it again during the 3-0 win against Chelsea last month, sprinting back to tackle Pedro as the forward attempted to race free.

Walcott must be secretly hoping that Bellerin completes his rumoured to move to Manchester City, which would give him clear shot at taking his crown back.
