Revealed: How Jose Mourinho Plans To Keep David De Gea At The Club Away From Real Madrid This Summer
Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United were one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window at the start of the season and this summer will not be any different at the Old Trafford.
The Portuguese manager has already been looking at some star players to improve on his squad at the club and has been linked to some of the biggest names in Europe.
And though Mourinho might be able to land a couple of stars, he will have to make sure that he can keep the core of the side intact for the next season.
But one player who might be on his way out of the club at the end of the season is Spanish shot-stopper David de Gea.
Easily the most consistent goalkeeper in the last few years in the league, De Gea, has been United’s best players in the last couple of years and have yet against been impressive this season.
However, Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu has been keeping an eye on him and is now determined to land him at the end of the season to replace Keylor Navas as the first choice at the club.
De Gea was a target for Real a couple of years ago but a saga that ended embarrassingly for the Spanish side saw the goalkeeper sign a new deal with the Old Trafford outfit.
But the Spanish side are back in for him yet again this summer and this time, Zidane is convinced that he can lure him back to the Spanish capital.
De Gea, who has already played in the La Liga at the Vicente Calderon, will be ready to move back to his homeland and according to reports from El Confidencial, he will only cost €50m (£43.8m), thanks to a clause in his current contract.
The report suggests that Zidane is growing desperate for his signature and has already opened talks with the star’s agent Jorge Mendes over a move in the summer.
It is revealed that Mendes will travel to Spain to finalize the deal but Manchester United are not yet ready to give up.
According to Metro, Jose Mourinho has now opened talks with Jorge Mendes over offering David de Gea a new, improve deal at the end of the season.
De Gea currently earns around £135,000 a week from the club and Mourinho is reportedly hoping to lure the 26-year old to a new deal by offering him improve wages. He wants to sign him till 2023, the report says.
The most important part of this new contract could be the fact that Mourinho wants to install a €70 million (£61.4m) release clause in his new contract which will fend interests away from Real Madrid.
Though it is a high price, not much can be put past Real Madrid but do you think David de Gea will sign a new deal and stay at the Old Trafford come the start of the next season?
