Pedro was initially linked with a move to Manchester United this summer after he became out of favour at the club due to the towering presence of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi. He was very close to making a move to Old Trafford, but Chelsea out of the blue moon hijacked the move and convinced Pedro to change his plans.
The Spanish winger made the first-team debut for FC Barcelona in January 2008 after catching the eye for their B team.
After joining Chelsea Pedro sounded ecstatic. He said:”I am very happy to be here. I am very excited to start my adventure at Chelsea and I am here to keep winning titles.”
“Thanks to the club and the supporters for giving me the opportunity to put the blue shirt on.”
Pedro is Chelsea’s fourth signing of the season. They had previously bought Stoke City’s custodian Asmir Begovic who replaced Petr Cech. The Blues got Radamel Falcao on loan from AS Monaco. The latest additions are young left-back Baba Rahman from Augsburg and Pedro Rodriguez from FC Barcelona.
