Erling Haaland came back to haunt his former side Borussia Dortmund scoring a sensational goal to guide his new club Manchester City to a dramatic win in the Champions League. Dortmund stunned the Etihad after taking the lead through Jude Bellingham, who smartly met a cross from Marco Reus to put it past City goalkeeper Ederson.
However, City responded in the dying minutes of the game through a John Stones thunderbolt and a Erling Haaland beauty to turn things around for the English champions. Haaland did receive some special praise from his former teammate and close friend Jude Bellingham as they shared a lively chat at full-time whistle. It is now revealed what the England international said to Haaland after he scored a banger against Dortmund.

Jude Bellingham swears on Erling Haaland’s acrobatic goal
Haaland continued his exploits with Manchester City in the Champions League, netting his third goal in second outing. He also took his goal tally to 26 goals in the European competition, which have come from just 21 games across stints with RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund and now Manchester City. However, the one he scored against Dortmund would probably go down as one of the best in the history of the competition.
Haaland once again defied the laws of physics and showed his robust acrobatic skills to meet a high cross from Joao Cancelo mid-air scoring an absolute banger. The Dortmund defenders along with their shot-stopper Alexander Meyer were just spectators to the brilliance of the 22-year-old striker. Jude Bellingham too was left awestruck watching his friend score such a wonderful goal.
Post the full-time whistle, Haaland and Bellingham were seen having a brief chat as the 19-year-old went to greet his friend. The midfielder appears to say: “f***’s sake mate” to Haaland as he still couldn’t believe the striker’s exploits. The reaction would have been no different from across the football fans who watched the Norwegian score that incredible goal.

Bellingham had more praise for the Man City no.9 as he went on to state in his post-match presser to BT Sport.:
“That shows his quality. He’s not always in the game but you know that you give him half a sniff and he can make a goal. That’s what he did tonight.”
However, Bellingham too was no less than his former teammate as he bossed the midfield for Dortmund in City’s backyard. But the blistering display from teenager and his opening goal was not enough to inspire his team to an unexpected win over Pep Guardiola’s well-oiled machine. Meanwhile, City in the process kept their 100% record in the European tournament intact, after the opening day victory against Sevilla.
On the other hand, Jude Bellingham will once again be a hot topic next summer after Champions League finalists from last season Liverpool made a failed attempt to sign him this summer. City are thought to be interested as well, with Guardiola singing praises of the former Birmingham midfielder post his side’s hard fought victory. The Spaniard said:
“I was impressed when he [Jude Bellingham] was 17, imagine now that he’s 19, he grew up so [much]. Defensively he’s able to follow Gundogan or Kevin [De Bruyne] in the pockets and win the duels. The transition is fast, have the sense for the second position right to the box for the goal he scored. So he’s an exceptional player, I think everyone knows it. Not because the manager of Manchester City is going to tell you. Everybody knows it.”
With his contract running down in 2025, Bellingham already has a number of potential suitors lining up at his doors. However, he currently focused on the upcoming FIFA World Cup where he is touted as a starter for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions.
