Rival Manager Ridicules Arsene Wenger After Defeat At Goodison Park 1

Everton boss Ronald Koeman, it seems, is not amused with Arsene Wenger’s comments after the Arsenal gaffer claimed referee Mark Clattenburg was responsible for his team’s defeat at the Goodison Park as the visitors squandered the chance to go top of the Premier League.

The North London outfit’s 14-game unbeaten run was ended by the Toffees as they came from behind to register their first home victory over the Gunners since 2006.The visitors took the lead when an Alexis Sanchez free-kick deflected off Ashley Williams to find the back of the net. But Seamus Coleman restored parity when he slotted home an excellent cross from Leighton Baines in the 44th minute before Ashley Williams hit the winner four minutes from time.

While the French tactician was fine with Seamus Coleman’s goal, he said that the match officials were wrong by awarding the corner that led to Ashley Williams’ winner. He said that the officials missed a touch off Dominic Calvert-Lewin before awarding the game-changing corner.

Arsenal missed the chance to overtake Chelsea at the top of the Premier League

“Of course it was no corner. You could see it from our side that it was no corner,” Wenger told the media after the match.

“I think we have to live with the wrong decision and it doesn’t explain why we do not head the ball after you know.

“I think I’m really disappointed because Clattenburg was in a really good position to see that play and he gave the ball out, and it’s not the first time we’ve been unlucky with decisions this season.

“Overall I don’t want to speak about the referee too much, it’s not my problem.”

However, the Toffees boss took a dig at his Arsenal counterpart by saying that the 66-year old has made a habit of blaming the officials after defeats.

‘I’m not surprised at Wenger’s comments, it’s the third time I’ve beaten him at home and the third time [he has made] it’s about the ref,” Koeman said.
