According to reports in the Sun Brendan Rodgers is has been sidelining all offers in the hope of taking over control at Stamford Bridge.

With Chelsea falling further into the relegation trap after the loss at the Kings Power stadium, former Liverpool boss believes that it is just a matter of time that the former champions would be looking for replacements for the Special One and he would be the possible choice. That is why the 42-year-old Brit hasn’t accepted offers from anywhere and is keenly waiting for the axe to be handed to the Portuguese.

So far the management and the owner Roman Abramovich have stuck with the former Madrid boss but their patience might just be running out. Chelsea sits only one spot shy of the relegation zone, with 15 points earned in a course of 16 games. Things are looking grim for the Blues with their players having lost their touch and struggling on the pitch. The injuries just add another load to the shoulders of the Portuguese who himself seems to have run out of ideas or plays. In this situation could Brendan Rodgers be the solution to Chelsea’s problems? We don’t want to be harsh, but absolutely no!

Mourinho took the club to a historical EPL win, a cup which they won after a 5-year drought. The manager has been backing his players and has received immense support in return. But his recent comments about the inadequacy of his players and his superiority in all regards may not sit well with the players or the management. This might be the ‘tough love’ approach but given Mourinho’s constant rifts with his players and the current situation that Chelsea is in, this approach might not be the boss’s best foot forward.

For Chelsea, Brendan Rodgers cannot be anything more than a temporary solution. But even then it would be a step down for the London club. For everything that has come to be this season, Mourinho’s credentials and capabilities are indisputable. Rodgers has confided in his mates that he would wish to take over from Mourinho, but the move honestly seems pretty unlikely. However anything can happen in football! So we got to wait and watch!
