Ronald Koeman finally gets one over Louis Van Gaal after closing on to sign this Manchester United target
Relationship between Ronald Koeman and Louis Van Gaal were never the most cordial right from their playing days and it continues till very date as both the Dutchmen are managing in English Premier League.
Lately, Van Gaal had got one over his long-stand rival by signing Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton for a fee of £25million. Koeman did his best to turn Unite down but Van Gaal was relentless in getting his man.
Following that, Southampton are edging closer towards a transfer for a long term defensive target Ron Vlaar.
Koeman is convinced to have signed the Dutchman after Serie A side Lazio pulled out of the negotiation understanding how great Southampton’s interest are of signing the central defender.
United were chasing the former Aston Villa skipper but Van Gaal never made any substantial bid for the player despite Vlaar being available on a free transfer.
Vlaar declared his desires to leave Villa Park and look for better things, as it looks like, Vlaar would remain in the Premier League with Southampton leading the chase for the 29-year old defender.
Meanwhile, United’s chase of a defensive signing continues as the option game between Sergio Ramos and Nicolas Otamendi does not seem to be settled. United are linked with both the players but can sign only one so the transfer is getting delayed by days and weeks.
