Real Madrid maintained their top position in La Liga after they defeated Cordoba on Saturday by 2-1(thanks to Bale’s penalty which bailed Madrid out), but the most shocking event of the match was Cristiano Ronaldo’s skills which were not with football but his slap, kicks and Punch on Cordoba’s players.
The 2014 Ballon d’Or winner was shown a red card in the 82nd minute of the game after he slapped and fouled on an opponent (though he should have been sent off in the 79th minute when he punched a player), the referee who saw this whole event was left with no choice and sent off the Portuguese international by showing him the red card.
When this incident happened the score was 1-1 but Madrid took over the game in the final moments, as Gareth Bale’s penalty secured a 2-1 win for the Galacticos.
Cristiano Ronaldo can be booked for straight 3 matches as violent behaviour can lead to a long time ban. But after the match Marca.com reported that there is a chance that the Madrid star is only forbidden from one match:
“In his report after the game between Córdoba and Real Madrid, referee Alejandro Hernández Hernández didn’t refer to violent conduct when describing the reason why he sent off CR7. “In the 83rd minute Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off for the following reason: kicking an opponent when the ball was out of reach”, the report read.

The Refereeing Committee will decide over the next week how long Ronaldo will be suspended for. At the moment, he is certain to miss the game against Real Sociedad next Saturday. If the ban were to stretch to more than two matches he would be forced to sit out the Madrid derby against Atlético, as Real must play the rearranged clash against Sevilla in between, but the referee’s decision not to qualify the star’s actions as violent conduct could yet help his cause.
So far Ronaldo has shown an amazing form and has managed to score 28 goals in just a mere 18 appearances in the La Liga, the Portuguese skipper has also provided 9 assists as per Whoscored.com
Barcelona is just behind Madrid in La Liga and if the 3 times Ballon d’Or winner is suspended for the next three games the Catalans can take an advantage as they are just waiting for Los Blancos to slip.
Ronaldo will definitely feel frustrated with his actions on Saturday, yet he plainly let his feelings take over him, demonstrating even the best can seem defective at crucial times.
The 3 times Ballon d’Or winner will be once again on the pitch soon, and there is little uncertainty that he will waste no time when he returns. The ban will give him a short break to mend the minor injuries he has had in the previous 12 months, and that will be a very positive effect for Madrid in the second half of the season.
