Manchester United fans are clearly loving the reaction Casemiro gave to David de Gea hugging Ivan Rakitic ahead of the Red Devils’ Europa League clash against Sevilla. At Old Trafford on Thursday night, United took on Sevilla in the first leg of their Europa League quarterfinal tie.

Marcel Sabitzer, who joined United in January, scored twice in the space of seven minutes to give Erik ten Hag’s team a 2-0 lead after 21 minutes. However, a meltdown in the final 10 minutes of the game saw United bizarrely concede two own goals to help Sevilla draw level. But Casemiro reacting to the De Gea-Rakitic meet-up prior to the game’s kick-off are what United supporters talking about the most.

United fans slam De Gea for Rakitic hug as they celebrate Casemiro’s reaction to it

As the players lined up in the tunnel prior to kickoff, United ‘keeper De Gea was spotted hugging Sevilla captain Rakitic and Casemiro’s expression was priceless as he stood there looking quite unhappy. But this wasn’t the first time Casemiro has reacted in response to De Gea hugging an opponent.

Ahead of United’s Europa League play-off match against Barcelona, the shot-stopper was pictured hugging Sergio Busquets, which supporters have since noticed and are reacting to on social media. The United fans are however not impressed with De Gea’s gesture as the Spaniard received some slander on social media.

Discussing Casemiro’s reaction to the hugs shared in the tunnel by De Gea with United’s rival players, fans wrote in response:

Just before halftime, Sevilla threatened to retake control of the game after their explosive start, but David De Gea made an incredible save to keep Tanguy Nianzou out of the scoring. United would be in a strong position to guarantee a spot in the semifinals if they were to win in Spain for the second leg next week. In the following round, Ten Hag’s team might face Sporting Lisbon or Juventus.

United are still in the running to win three trophies this year as Erik ten Hag’s team will play Brighton later this month in the FA Cup semifinals, having previously won the League Cup in February. However, to keep that hunt alive, United now need to win in Sevilla after they let their 2-0 advantage slip, to keep progressing in the Europa League
