Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has once again claimed that they will not sell their star player Thomas Muller this summer to Manchester United or any other club.
The German international was closely linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United this summer. It was reported in the media that Louis van Gaal who was in search of a ‘surprise signing’ might rope in Muller who is an extremely versatile player. Thomas Muller can play in almost any position in the attack. He started his career as a right winger/ right midfielder, then he moved to number 9 position where succeeded and then again he has the ability to play just behind the forward.
Manchester United released two of their star striker this season Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao are in serious need of a proper striker. Except for Wayne Rooney there isn’t any quality name in their roster.
Speaking about Premier League clubs’ spending spree this summer Rummenigge said: “Muller is not for sale. Our English colleagues seem to be unable to spend all of their money.”
The English clubs have benefited greatly from the new television deal which has seen the likes of Stoke City and Crystal Palace buying players like Xherdan Shaqiri and Yohan Cabaye.
Manchester United had also targetted Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos who is close to sign a contract extension in the coming days. Manchester City on the other hand have still not managed to sign their long time target Kevin De Bruyne.
The Bayern CEO in somewhat mocking gesture said that irrespective of having huge money the English clubs have failed to get their desired players.
He further said: “There might be English clubs who try their luck but it is nice to see that money isn’t everything – by which I mean Ramos, Muller, De Bruyne.”
