Alexis Sanchez-Mesut Ozil Replacement Identified, Arsenal Send Scouts To Hold Talks
Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are fighting hard to keep up with the title race at the top of the Premier League table but their back to back losses at the start of the previous month have set them back a bit this season.
After the victory over Crystal Palace, Arsenal are in the 3rd place in the points table, 9 points off Chelsea at the top and Wenger will hope that his side can put on another string of good performances to stay in the hunt till the business end of the season.
The manager spent a fair amount of money on transfers in the summer but has not been able to rely on them this season which might see him jump into the January transfer window for additions.
A number of top class players have been linked with a move to the Emirates in he winter transfer window and one such player who is now extensively linked with a move to Arsenal is FC Porto attacker Yacine Brahimi.
One of the most technically gifted players around in Europe, Brahimi, has been a mainstay for the Portuguese giants since his move to the club back in 2014 and he already has 66 games under his belt for the side.
The 26-year is currently settled in Portugal but he has been in the past linked with a move to the Premier League with Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton monitoring his situation.
He has had a decent 2016,helping Porto to domestic success and also helping the side in their European campaign. At his age, he has gathered enough experience at the highest stage and Wenger, who is impressed by his performances, wants him at the Emirates for the best part of the player’s playing career.
The likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are yet to put pen to paper and have less than 2 years to settle it out.
Wenger is not happy with the wage demands of the players and is also pondering over letting one of them go on a big money move.
So it does not come as a surprise that the manager had scouts watching the Porto star in a recent game in Portugal.
It is understood that the 26-year old has a release clause of £51m and Arsenal will have to break the bank to get their man but if Ozil or Sanchez decide to quit, it will not be a price that cannot be reached.
Do you think Yacine Brahimi, at his price, is a viable target for Arsenal?
