The Gunners will face Manchester City on Monday midnight (IST) in one of the most crucial fixtures of the league. Arsenal will aim to march at the top of the table and City will look on to increase their points and go up on the standings of the Premier League. As the league gets tougher the clubs have begun to look out for potential candidates for the January transfer window.

The market has started with the business and rumours have started spreading, already. Spain’s El Confidencial have published an interesting article this week on supposed Arsenal interest in Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez. What is amusing about the news is that Saul had already packed his bags and was off to head towards London but the plan was canned after fellow team mate Tiago fell prey to an injury.

Saul is represented by Jorge Mendes, and El Confidencial say the agent had a deal all worked out, the Spaniard would be on his way to London, but Tiago’s serious injury changed things and Diego Simeone will now rely more on Saul. Young Saul hasn’t been awarded enough games at the club and despite signing a new deal he wasn’t a part of sufficient game time. This was due to Tiago’s presence in the squad.

However, Tiago is at the end of his career at the age of 34 and it looks as if Saul would be given chances now. Saul isn’t learning at the bench either and therefore a move to Arsenal amazes the player. Well, for a fact, even at Arsenal Saul won’t be a game starter either. Regardless, El Confidencial think this was a deal all agreed for the January window, but one which looks scuppered by Tiago’s injury.
